Avoid Christmas Weight Gain Tip #2: Nip Christmas Procrastination Eating in the Bud. Get Ready for Christmas Early.

As the fragrance of sugar cookies wafts in from the kitchen and the sleigh bells tinkle in the distance, I sit by a merry fire sipping hot cocoa. Snuggled in my hand-knit afghan, I ponder the meaning of this precious season.

Wait a minute—what’s that noise?

It doesn’t sound like sleigh bells.

Is it Santa’s reindeer stomping on my roof?

No.

What is it . . .

Oh . . .

My husband nudges me.

“Time to wake up, Barb,” he says. “Your alarm clock is ringing.”

I don’t know about you, but the Christmas of my dreams is not the Christmas of my reality.

I’m sitting by the fire all right, with the hot chocolate and cookies in hand, but instead of enjoying myself, I’m thinking of all the things I should be doing.

Where’s that idyllic dream of my youth?

I’ll tell you where it is: it’s stuck in procrastination land.

I could be sitting by the fire enjoying life if I were to get on the ball right away like I did that one other time in my life.

Wait a minute—I could be sitting by the fire enjoying life if I were to get on the ball right away like I did that one other time in my life.

Why don’t I do that?

Why don’t we do that?

Here’s my challenge—to myself and to you, if you’d like to join me—let’s get ready for Christmas as soon as possible.

This week.

Today.

Right now.

The sooner we get it done, the sooner we can kick back and enjoy the holidays.

And the sooner we kick back and enjoy the holidays—the more Christmas will look the way we want it to look.

Sounds kind of ideal to me. I think for some getting ready for Christmas can't happen until the work stops which won't be till the 17th of Dec.
I still will enjoy the holidays though by probably just do less than others and lower my expectations of what the perfect holiday has to looks like.

Thanks for bringing that up. If you're swamped with work, it's tough no matter how you look at it. Doing less and lowering expectations is a great solution.
